Norbert Hess had bring Willie Perryman in October 1977 for the first of
five extensive tours in Europe including dates in England and Germany.
The Muhlenbrink's Saloon was located in the Atlanta Underground Complex (Georgie) and "Piano Red" played there from Aug 1969 to 1979 when the facilities closed...
...These German guys who may been Richard Weize's friends found the Piano Red there. From here "Piano Red", who lost its old hen the same year, moved to The Excelsior for two years.

Un petit document provenant de la collection de Henry Laffont, qu'appréciera vraisemblablement notre ami commun "Imperial". Il s'agit de l'édition française d'un 45 tours de Piano Red sur la Voix De Son Maître n° 7 GF 138 (avec la pochette originale !) sortie inaperçue au début des années 50 dans notre pays. Les titres figurant sur ce simple sont "Diggin' the boogie" et "Let's have a good time tonight". Henry m'avait signalé l'existence de trois singles de Piano Red issus à peu près à la même époque (certainement en 45 tours et en 78 tours !), outre celui déjà décrit on trouve le 143 "Rockin' with Red"/Red's boogie" et le 356 sorti dans les mid 50's "Layin' the boogie"/"Baby what's wrong". Ce sont tous des enregistrements issus du catalogue US RCA-Victor. (Texte Charlie Barbat, document et renseignements Henry Laffont, archives "Imperial")
Fabuleux disque et renseignements qui font honneur à la mémoire de Henry Laffont que nous transmet là le gardien du Holly Rockin' Graal. Extraordinaire ... Ces trois singles français sont la contrepartie de trois US : RCA 47-4265 "Diggin' The Boogie"/"Let's Have a Good Time Tonight", RCA 50-0099 "Rockin' With Red"/"Red's Boogie", RCA 50-0130 "Laying The Boogie"/"Baby What's Wrong". Tous ces morceaux ont été enregistrés entre Juillet 1950 et Février 1951.
Le 17 octobre 1950, Piano Red a gravé un vieux standard intitulé "Right String But The Wrong Yo-Yo" qui trouvera sa place dans le répertoire de Carl Perkins. En Octobre 1951, ce même génie reprenait avec brio deux morceaux de Country "Hey Good Lookin'" et "It Make No Difference Now" qu'il dynamitait. L'inverse de ce que fera Elvis mais trois ans plus tôt. Un des pères fondateurs du rock and roll et un ... fabuleux tribute to Henry !
En France est également sorti sur le même label un disque de Leroy Carr "Six Cold Feet in The Ground"/"Going Back Home" (La Voix de son Maître 343) -Renseignement Anita Popieul.
Pour ma part, un Boogie en appelant un autre voici un autre "Diggin' The Boogie" sorti en France et, lui aussi, passé inaperçu.
